Bernalillo Wine Families and Industry

New Mexico has the longest history of wine production in the US and Sandoval County has played a key role in its evolution. In the early 1870’s, the Christian Brothers planted 1000’s of cuttings near Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo, opened La France Winery and hired French winemaker Louis Gros, Sr. to manage the operation through the 1920’s when he left to start his own vineyard. Giorgio Rinaldi took over the operation and the stage was set! Come meet and hear from 4′ generation descendants of New Mexico’s original pioneer wine families. The families of Gros, Mallett, Taraddei, Alary, Sena, Rinaldi and Street will share history, stories, pictures and memories.
