Joan Fenicle Exhibition: Down to the Bones
Joan Fenicle: Down to the Bones
Exhibition January 3-29, 2023
Reception Saturday, January 7, 1:00–4:00 p.m.
This mixed-media exhibit concentrates on a narrower view of the landscape that the artist loves. Primarily a photographer and oil painter, her mixed media work is an expression of loose themes using color and both acrylic mediums and construction materials such as stucco patch to share an idea or memory of a day spent exploring.
Joan says “I used to spend a lot of time backpacking and exploring the unknown. Carrying everything you need on your back focuses one’s thoughts on what is essential. If it doesn’t have to do with covering ground or staying alive, it is a luxury. Focus is also a lesson for an artist. This exhibit has been an exercise in stripping away the details to expose the underlying structure.”
Fenicle is a long-time Placitas resident, one of the founding members of Wild Hearts Gallery and manager of Placitas’ low power FM radio station.
Wild Hearts Gallery is an artists’ collective, supported by 16 local artists.
