Laura Robbins: Healing Dreams

Using mosaic as illustration, Laura retells and reimagines her childhood stories through a lens of personal wisdom. Dreams, insights and teachings take on a storybook form honoring mystery, the unknown cosmos, nature and heart. Pieces of uniquely formed clay join with cut, fused and slumped glass to create mosaic images. The nine unique pieces in the exhibit are suitable for both indoor and protected outdoor spaces.

Long-time Placitas resident Laura Robbins is a founding member of Mosaic New Mexico and Wild Hearts Gallery, both collaborative ventures. She co-facilitated the seventy-foot-long Placitas Community mosaic mural, Protect Our Wildlife Corridors and co-authored Mosaics of Central New Mexico – A Self-Guided Tour with friend, Cirrelda Snyder Bryan. She has permanent mosaic installations at the Albuquerque Zoo, the Botanic Garden’s Dragonfly Sanctuary and the Open Space Visitor Center on Coors Blvd. Her work can also be seen locally at The Range Cafes, Rust Medical Center Chapel and other businesses, schools, developments and private homes in New Mexico. She received a BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University.
