Native Visions: Celebrating Native American Artwork

Native Visions: Celebrating Native American Heritage Month will feature New Mexico Native American artists who will be presenting their cultural artwork and its significant symbolism.

 

Saturday, November 30, at 2 PM – Placitas Community Library

Claudia Mitchell, an Acoma potter, will speak about her unique pottery style and method.
Gene Billie, a Navajo sculptor and jeweler, will be speaking about designing a piece of jewelry in collaboration with James Goodman, a Navajo sculptor.

 

The Native Visions art exhibit will feature work by 16 native artists, among them being Joe and Althea Cajero, Lyle Yazzie, Bobbi Emerson Kitsman, Claudia Mitchel, Delores Lewis, Nocona Burgess, Michael Billie, Cliff Fragua, James Goodman in the Gracie Lee Community Room from November 26 through January 2. Friday, December 6 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm the committee will host a reception celebrating the artists.

 

As always, works in the exhibition will be available for purchase with a portion of sales benefiting the Placitas Community Library.
