“Rainbow Variations” The functional art of AmyJane Johnson and wall art by Catalina Salinas.
Expect a shock of color when you behold “Rainbow Variations,” the works of AmyJane Johnson and Catalina Salinas. November’s Featured Artists at Amapola Gallery combine ornament with function in their works.
AmyJane Johnson is a devotee of functional beauty. She produces a medley of plates, mugs, saucers, small dishes, all in intriguing color combinations, designs and shapes. Her love of strong color really pops in her clothing, graceful drapy wraps, scarves, tee-shirts, socks and baby clothes—onesies, tiny socks and an occasional little jacket. Brilliantly colored prizes of the art of tie-dye.
Catalina Salinas picks up the rainbow and runs with it. She combines color, intricate brushwork and meticulous design in her stunning wall art. Geometric shapes twist, loop and overlap. Vincent Van Gogh challenges the viewer with his blue-eyed stare. A flock of origami cranes tumbles in a maelstrom. Catalina has also translated her abstract motifs into a line for elegant silk scarves, a regal finish to any outfit.
Together this pair will delight you with the exciting range and quality of their rainbow creations.
